CHOOSING A TRADE

Try ABC's Redesigned Try Tools Website For More Information on Careers in Construction

ABC recently unveiled its redesigned Try Tools website, an online construction career information center located at www.trytools.org. The new website provides information on career opportunities in the construction industry in three categories: younger students, high school students, and parents and teachers.

Additionally, the site offers educational resources targeted for individuals in each of these categories. “Construction is an excellent career of choice, and the ABC Try Tools website is a fun and informative tool for students of all ages to learn about the exciting career opportunities in construction,” said Kirk Pickerel, ABC past president and CEO. “ABC is committed to introducing the next generation to the wide range of career possibilities in the industry, and we are excited to offer www.trytools.org as a resource to help do that.”

Try Tools’ enhanced website includes a section for high school students that details the career opportunities and earning potential available within the skilled trades, as well as the construction management, design and engineering fields. The section also features a virtual job site tour that allows students to “visit” the construction site of a high-rise residential building and learn about the different stages of the building process.

Also, the new Try Tools website introduces younger students to the world of construction and provides information on construction toys, books and games. The site also offers parents and teachers ideas for construction-related activities and access to educational materials, including the construction career path poster, which outlines ABC’s concept of lifelong learning.
