Apprenticeship Courses


RICTA's Apprenticeship Training Program provides students with the necessary training and educational opportunities for a challenging career in construction. The courses are designed to prepare young men and women to become the craft workers, construction managers and industry leaders of tomorrow.
Classes begin every year in September.  Each class is held 2 nights per week, either Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday from 6pm - 9pm. Class runs through April with a 4 week break during Christmas/New Year's time.

Programs Offered:


15-HOUR CE CLASSES

2023 15 Hour Continuing Education. This class will fulfill the mandatory code updates for class A and B electricians in Rhode Island & Massachusetts. For details Details.

CORE CURRICULUM:

Introductory craft skills will be introduced in year 1 of each trade. Core Curriculum.

CARPENTRY:

Carpentry program has 4 years of curriculum.  It begins with basic safety and carpentry for an entry level carpenter. It is also designed to meet the state requirement for any company working on a state funded project that must have an apprentice.  Carpentry Class Details.

CRAFT LABORER:

This program is 2 years.  It is designed to meet the state requirement for any company working on a state funded project that must have an apprentice. Craft Laborer Class Details.

ELECTRICAL:

This is a 4 year program to meet the state required 576 hours of related training. The core curriculum is not included in year 1 of electrical.  Electrical Class Details.

EPA 608 Certification Training and Exam

This course is for those seeking certification in refrigerant handling in accordance with the Federal Clean Air Act Section 608 as required by law. Program Details

HVAC (Heating Ventilation & Air Conditioning):

Refrigeration Journeyman II (limited) license is a 2 year program.   Refrigeration Journeyman I (unlimited) license is a 5 year program. Program Details.

PAINTING:

This program has 3 years of curriculum.  It is designed to meet the state requirement for any company working on a state funded project that must have an apprentice. Painting Class Details.

PIPEFITTING:
